Swaggs Update Feb 2013

5 Years
This update to you is a very special one for me. Today as I am writing this, I am celebrating my 5th anniversary of living and serving in India.
WoW!!! It is hard to imagine that a 2 week short term mission’s trip to Chennai in 2005 would ultimately change my life forever. In these last 5 years, God has used me in ways that I could not have even conceived in my wildest imagination. In 2007 when He called me to Chennai, I had no earthly clue how He was going to use me, but not once in the last 5 years have I been disappointed in my decision to come. In the midst of this work, God blessed me with a family. I was married to Vikho in 2010 and had a son, Tyler in 2011.
What’s next…… We’re MOVING!
March of 2012 Vikho and I made a decision to 100% trust in God to take care of our needs. Our decision meant that I would stop pursuing job opportunities here and focus on my radio work full time. Since that decision our financial needs have been met and it was clear to us that we were doing what God had intended us to do. That was a hard decision because with a new son and expenses that surpassed Vikho’s income, the numbers on paper did not add up. God has been faithful and has replaced the money I was making when I was teaching English and has supplied enough money to expand our radio ministry to include Bangalore Christian Radio and Nagaland Christian Radio to go along with the radio channel that had already been established in Chennai.
5 years of living and serving in Chennai has made this my home. Vikho has called Chennai home for 9 years now. Most of that time working with Compassion International. Our history with this city makes what I am about to say difficult. It is with mixed emotions that we have made a decision to move away from Chennai. Vikho will be leaving her Job with compassion as well.
There has been a stirring in my heart for nearly a year now about the possibility of moving up to Nagaland. I have been seeing confirmations from God that this maybe the next step in our ministry. Nagaland Christian Radio has had exposure in the state’s media and has also received national exposure as this is the first online radio station in Northeast India. NCR also had a good chance of becoming an FM radio station within the next few years, which will be a first in Nagaland. A few government officials have expressed their appreciation for this initiative and have expressed their support.
So the big announcement I have been sitting on since about Late November when it was decided is we are moving to Dimapur, Nagaland. This move will take place at the end of March. This move is going to be expensive and we are relying on God to handle all the details for us. I am estimating it is going to cost us about $2000/Rs.1,10000 to move our belongings and vehicle. We are also going to need to replace Vikho’s monthly income as well. I believe God is capable!! In 2007 when I said yes to God to move to Chennai, He cleared my debt and covered my moving expenses in about 2 week’s time, thanks to many of you.
We need your help again! We are in need of 1 time supporters to help us with moving expenses, as well as new monthly supporters to cover our living expenses. I estimate that our monthly needs will increase to $1300/Rs.68000 per month. By that estimate and based on our current monthly support, we are short $450/Rs.24000 per month. We are living on faith, as I have been since I moved here, and I believe Jehova Jirhe will cover us as He has promised to do. If you feel led to financially support us, at the end of this letter you can see ways to send your gifts to us.
What about CCR and BCR?
The few that I have shared with about the move thus far, has already asked the question What about Chennai Christian Radio. The answer is simple. CCR and BCR will continue. I will be forming a team over the next month to take up some of the responsibilities of running CCR. My hopes honestly will to actually ramp up CCR’s reach this year. I have been writing down 2013 goals for CCR and will work with this team to accomplish them. Much of the ownership and responsibilities will fall on this team to complete the goals. I will also continue to do some of the tasks from Nagaland. God willing I will have enough income to come down to Chennai every few months to oversee the progress of the CCR volunteers. Ultimatly I want to completely give over CCR to this group within the next few year and let them take it forward. BCR is going to be downgraded for a while at least. It will continue to run, but on a lesser scale. I need help with BCR and until a team is formed in Bangalore for Bangalore Christian Radio, it will run as only a simple music channel.
Prayer needed!!
Please keep us in your prayers. So many of you are faithful prayer partners and your prayers have been felt over the last several years now. I have to say that the enemy has been upping his attacks against us since our decision to move was made. He has been attacking my dreams again and has also been attacking Nagaland Christian Radio through hacks. The website has been replaced with satanic images twice now. I feel the site’s security issues have been resolved now, so I am hoping I don’t see those hacks anymore. Pray for our move as well. There are a lot of elements of this move that we are 100% living on God’s promises and believing He has everything covered.
Thank you for reading and supporting us over the years, either through prayer support, financial support, or through your friendship. Below are ways you can send your support to us. I pray God will continue to bless you and give you a great 2013!!!
Blessings,
-Bob Swaggerty

Swaggs April Update

The Last 6 months

A lot in my life over the last 6 months has happened, and I praise God for it!! Before I start with my ministry efforts I wanted to let you know of the greatest blessing that God has given me so far in my life. Most of you by now have heard this through Facebook or at church, but I am sure there are a few of you that have not heard the news. In short…. I am engaged! Her name is Vikho and I met her through a project I did for Compassion.

I first met her over a year ago, but have only gotten to know her better through a video shoot I did in Kerala last November. Slowly over the months to follow, we came to know each other better and realized our love we have for each other. Both of us, as well as her family agree this union is from God and is in his plan. If you want the how it happened, the moment and all that, you can email me and ask I will give you the story in detail. Please pray for us and for the journey of life we have ahead of us. Also pray that we learn how to live with our differences culturally.

Now to the work I have been a part of these last several months….

The main focus of my work these last 6 months came to an end with God doing amazing things here in Chennai. I had the opportunity to be on the Technical crew for the Chennai Hope Festival that took place in January. This work began in August and ended at the end of January, and Praise God it was worth the effort. I was so blessed to have a small part in an event that brought almost 140,000 people to the event over a 4 day period. In those 4 days we saw nearly 15,000 people that gave their lives to Christ, (almost 10,000 of them were children).

The process for this 4 day program started with working with local churches here in Chennai, and it was great to see God’s people coming together to make this event happen. Franklin Graham gave a very simple salvation message each evening and the result was a large amount of people coming to the stage to receive Christ, get prayer, and fill out a form that they had received Christ. My main role for this event itself was to record the audio for the video recordings, and oversee all the audio and video connections coming and going from the stage to the video control room. Many have commented that it was great to see that good audio and a well organized program is possible in Chennai. (audio is not that great here) (and no one has a concept of starting on time here) Praise God for what He did!!

In October I was given the opportunity to go to the state of Orissa to attend a good friend’s father’s funeral. The opportunity to go that place will stay with me for the rest of my life. The place I went to was a small village where the people live very basic and simple. Bathing in the river and no indoor plumbing is the way of life in this place. I would have to say that is the most favorite place in India I have been to so far. The people were so nice and caring there, and I was welcomed there with such warmth. After hearing some of the horror stories about all the fighting and killing that were going on in Orissa it was a very pleasant surprise to find this quiet place nested in a beautiful valley.

Just to let you know, in 2008 Hindu extremists, started killing and removing Christians
from their homes, and destroying their homes and property. At one point there were more than 50,000 Christian refugees that had lost their homes and were forced out of the state. The only way they were allowed to stay is if they denounced Christ and followed Hinduism. The people of Gumma village felt safe in their place as the village is mostly Christian due to my friend’s father that passed away. I heard so many stories about his ministry there and stories of how he was a blessing to so many lives there.

Over the last few years, I have become good friends with Cary Edwards, a local entertainer and Disc Jockey on XM Radio in North America as well as being on local radio here. He has been a great friend here and we have shared many meals at Sparkie’s (a local American restaurant), gone to movies, among other things. We have had many talks about Jesus and the relationship I have with Him. A few months back we held a church bowling outing and Cary was invited to come. This was the first church event he has agreed to attend. At the end of it I invited him to come to church as I had done many times before. He said, “Bob I love you as a friend, but I will never step foot in your church”.

I handed him an invitation card and he laughed. His girlfriend then suggested he should go since he had been asked so many times by me and others. He came, and was surprised that the service was the way it was, and started to come regularly. We invited him to MC a concert our church held, and at the end of the concert he, his girlfriend and a few others gave their lives to Christ!! He since then has gotten baptized and he has been coming to church when he is in town. Praise God He has come to Christ as he has some influence in this city and is well known. Let’s pray he uses his talents and abilities to further the kingdom here in Chennai.

Between Video work for the Church, working for the Franklin Graham team and doing young adult ministry through camps and meetings, I have been continuing to produce video productions for Compassion International, Intermission (a German Ministry mainly to College students and slum dwellers) and Go Opportunities (a ministry to the less fortunate women of the city).

The Intermission project was used in a television program in Germany in December. I have possible video projects coming with Ravi Zacharias, International Justice Mission, and a video project for a mission to the blind here in Chennai along with more videos for compassion. God has continued to use my talents in the city to bless these ministries as well as others. I have also done audio work for a Tamil Church near to my home as well as Word of Life. I have also been invited to teach audio and video for 10 days in September to a ministry group in Assam (an Indian state in the north).

Now that the Franklin Graham festival is over, HCJB (a radio ministry) has contacted me and has asked me to join them with their radio planting that is going on here in Asia. I am working on the needed paper work right now to get started with them. As soon as I get started with that I will need financial support to be able to work with HCJB and continue to survive here in India. My next update will hopefully give detailed information regarding my future with HCJB/Transworld Radio. A lot of what happens with my upcoming marriage will play a role in when I begin the work with them, but I should hopefully start in the coming months.

Word of life has blossomed and we have gone from 1 church to 3 churches here in Chennai. I am assisting in the needs of 2 of them and am continuing to help with audio and worship when needed.

I have a need that I hope you can help with. During Christmas my music keyboard was setup by one of our church members and they mistakenly plugged it into Indian power without a converter. Indian power is different than the US power. As a result the keyboard is completely burnt up and destroyed. This has affected my music ministry significantly and I am not able to minister in music as much as I used to be able to. I need about $700 to repair the keyboard which is not a good option because of the age of the keyboard, or get a new one that is comparable for about $1000. I don’t have the money for this so I need to rely on someone to donate the money for this so I can continue my music effectively. I have a stage piano still but it is starting to show wear and I can’t afford to move it around as much as I used to. Please consider helping me with this need.

Speaking of my financial needs if you have agreed to support me I would ask you to please continue to do so if you are able. God has blessed me financially through some of these productions I have produced, but I am slowly running out of money here. I am planning on staying here one way or another, but if I cannot get the support needed, I will be forced to get a job here which will significantly reduce my ability to serve here, and remove my ability to work with HCJB altogether. I have about $1100 left to my name and that will be gone by the end of May. Please agree to sponsor me for the next 6 months or 1 year so I can continue to serve our Lord here in Chennai and Asia. If you feel that you want to help me financially, please just drop an email and I will give you the details on how you can get your gift to me. God has continued to provide in amazing ways and I am confident that he will continue no matter what!!

So much more has gone on in the last six months like; a beach camp, our 2 year anniversary at church, a village outreach concert our church did, numerous meeting pertaining to Franklin Graham, prayer outreach, basketball outreach (an attempt anyway lol), and more one on one encounters I have had with people that have needed a friend. If you want details on any of this please let me know. God continues to use me in ways I have not expected. He has blessed me with a fiancé, a place to live here and it has all been because I said yes to Him when he called me. I would encourage you to listen to God and if he calls you to the place he wants you to be in, let him do the work and allow him to supply your needs, and then, enjoy the ride. God bless you and thank you for your continued prayer for me, encouragement for me, and the blessing you have been to me. God is good ALL THE TIME!!!

Swaggs Update (USA/Canada Visit)

Dear friends,

Just wanted to touch base with everyone on my trip home so far. God has been speaking to me a lot lately, as I have been really trying seeking him to make sure my life and the ministry he has given me is in line with His will for my life. It has been so hard to examine myself over the last month. I have met with New life Church (my home church), and I have been to Indiana to meet with HCJB the radio missionary organization, and I am currently in Calgary Alberta Canada, to meet with Word of Life, the church body that I am working with in Chennai. The struggle I have been facing is that I have been listening to man and the goals that each man has, and listening less to what God has been saying.

Seems to me one of my biggest problems I face in life is I spend too much time trying to please my peers and the people in my life that I care about. I have honestly been depressed lately because of the enormous stress that I have been under trying to live up to everyone's expectations and goals when I know in my heart of hearts that it is not God's will for me to ever live for people, but to Life for His fame. This truth is the main thing I have been hearing from God these last few weeks now.

I WILL be, staying the course, that He has me on. There is no question that I am in the will of God in what I am doing in India. God has shown me in so many different ways. Knowing that I must keep on moving forward.

PRAYER REQUESTS....

As I finish out the remaining week of time that I have here in North America, pray that God will continue to speak to me and continue to make things clear, so when I return to Chennai next week I will be focused and ready for the work that is ahead of me.

I have a meeting with Word of Life later this week that will shed some more light how my partnership with them will look. They have an interest in being my "Sending Missionary Agency" that in turn would be responsible for my spiritual accountability as well as be the one's that will receive gifts from people like you and get it to me.

Pray for safety from the enemy! I feel like I am under the most spiritual warfare I have ever faced and it seems to me that it is getting stronger by the day. The enemy is not happy with me; that is obvious!!!! I Praise God for that because it reminds me that an impact for the kingdom is being made. I

need more prayer warriors that will keep me lifted up before the throne of Grace. Please consider praying for me at least weekly, and please let me know that you are doing that.

I also badly need people to partner with me financially. I honestly am almost out of money, and am currently not having a lot coming in. Please consider supporting me on a monthly basis for 6 months to one year. I say 1 year, because my goal is to be self supported within one year by having a business of some kind in India that will allow me to be affective in the kingdom while make the money needed to live and minster there. If everyone that receives this update gave $5 a month, I would receive far more then I need. If you can afford $5 a month or, $20 a month, or $40 or $100, or whatever you think God is telling you, please reply to this and let me know. This is a major stress for me right now as I know times are tough for many, but I also know our God is a BIG God. If you believe in the work that God is accomplishing through his servant, then please I ask you to be a partner in this way, by helping me raise the funds I need for the next year to get to continue the work that I know he has called me to do in India. If I have truly been called to be there then there is no doubt that he will supply all my needs above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined, as he has always done. (Philippians 4:19) If you would like to give right now a onetime gift, or begin to give a monthly gift you can do that by following the link below my Ecard using your debit card or credit card, or you can send a check to P.O Box 30323 Gahanna, OH 43230 made payable to Bob Swaggerty.

I will update you in a week to let you know what God has done in my life through my time here in Canada. I will also share the exact details of what my next year looks like as I continue to minister in India.

If you are able to attend Resonate at New Life church on Sunday I will be speaking about what God is up to in my life as well as what God is Doing in India. This Sunday please plan to attend Resonate This Sunday at 11:00am in the Worship Arts room in the classroom wing of the church. Thank you so much for your prayer and supporting me. I truly love you all!!!

His humble servant (trying my best to be anyway),

-Bob Swaggerty

India Spring Update

I have to tell you that the last 6 months of my life have been utterly amazing!!! So much has happened in my life and in ministry that I will never be the same again. As far as my wild bison attack that happened at the beginning of February, I am still not fully recovered. I am in no pain now nor do I really have anything that is slowing me down. I just have a little bit of tissue that is rebuilding itself. Thankfully the area is healthy and all the doctors seem please with its progress. As difficult and as hard as this trial has been for me to endure, I am thankful that it happened. The main reason for this would be that God has used this trial for the good. From the time I had at the school and after I returned to Chennai, I keep bumping into people that come up to me and say what an amazing testimony this is on how God protected me. After returning to Chennai, someone tell me that they read about this in a Tamil newspaper, someone else heard about it when a pastor preached and used my story in his message. Praise God that my pain went to good use. I am hoping that the remaining tissue that is rebuilding will be complete in the next month or so. By the way A friend in Kodaikanal posted these pictures on facebook. This is the Bison that got me!!!!

So what has Bob been up to these last few months???

Most of my time these last 3 months has been divided up mainly between Word of Life Church and Compassion International. Yes Compassion!!! compassion_international_indiaThe local Indian office contacted me and requested me to produce a couple of videos for them. One of them was to highlight one individual that has lived throughout the program and is graduating this year. The second video was the graduation event it’s self. These simple videos have opened up a much larger door that will allow me to serve Compassion in India. They have expressed interest in using me to produce more productions for them as well as help them upgrade some of their IT infrastructure. When I return to Chennai in August I have meetings scheduled with them to begin the process of linking all their offices together that are throughout India, Nepal, and other areas in Asia. There will be other video productions coming as well that are in the planning stages.

I have been so blessed to become part of a new church that is in its infancy stage in Chennai called Word of Life. The goal of the church and my own personal ministry goals are in line with each other. We both want to reach young adults for Christ. The church’s main vision and focus is to reach the middle class 18 to 30 year olds that are in the IT sector of the city and are people that will most likely be running India in the next 20 years. We are running a church service to attract these people and offer events and programs that will allow these people to learn about Jesus in nontraditional ways (at least nontraditional to Indian standards), and give them opportunities to serve there city. IMG_1428 4718_88093447766_523207766_1779600_4083633_n My main purpose at the church is to help them in the technical areas of the church, like media presentations, and overseeing the audio. I am also helping to lead worship each week. 2 months ago I purchased new software for the church that now runs all the media for the services. This software has gotten a lot of attention as it used moving backgrounds during the worship. People in India have never seen that before and has brought our worship to a new level in church. I am on the planning and leadership team of the church as well which has given me an opportunity to make decisions that will further the efforts of the church. I have spent countless hours producing videos that are being used during the services that highlight different upcoming events and elements of the service.

001020One of the coolest events I have been a part of in Chennai would be a simple outing we as a church had to serve our city’s police. We spent a Saturday and passed out water to the Chennai police. We went around and when we saw a police officer we went up to them and handed them water, and thanked them for serving us. 023This was amazing to simply say thanks and the police were genuinely thankful for the care we showed. Please watch this very short funny video as it shows the outing, but it also shows a little bit of the city I live in.

About 3 months ago we had a young man give his life to Christ through our efforts at word of life. He is from a very influential Hindu family. His grandfather is a Hindu Guru, which is like a Hindu high priest. The good news obviously is he has given his life to the Lord and is absolutely on fire for Christ right now! His family is now watching and who knows where that will lead. Just in the last month alone we have had 5 people express interest in becoming a follower of Christ. Last week we had 3 people get baptized. God is using me and word of life to reach the Hindu and Muslims around us!!!

IMG_18674288_196347925523_500235523_6886859_5982006_nIn May I was able to help with another young adult camp through WAC. The theme for this trip was Rock On. We designed this adventure camp to be fun, but also give the 40 young adults that attended motivation to succeed in life while living out there faith in Christ. This was a jungle camp and we had an absolute blast hanging out with these people in an unbelievable place on earth. n686860021_6810679_506058I was limited unfortunately on what I could do, and fatigue set in quickly due to my injury, but I was pleased that I was still a part of this camp that brought mostly new people that we have not ministered to and as a result of the camp we have had some attend Word of Life Church.

IMG_2094IMG_2093IMG_2088One of the main adjustments for me this year as opposed to living in India last, is the fact that I am now living on my own and away from the safe confines of HBI and its protected campus. This has been very expensive for me to get established here and it was very costly for the furniture and appliances needed to live and also the ability to offer a place for bible studies and other gatherings. Let me just say that I love where I live. I feel safe there for the most part and it is one of the quietest places to live in Chennai. I do have power loss a lot there and there is some problems with the electric but outside of that I am pleased where God has provided me to live. I talk about power and think about my air conditioner.IMG_2156 IMG_2154I just bought a second air conditioner that will cover my living room and dining area. And unfortunately I do not have enough power to run the unit. It is very frustrating for me to have that happen after paying the $400 or so dollars to get it and have it installed, but I am praying that I can get that fixed by the time I am back to Chennai. I was able to take the little bit of money I earned last year doing radio work in Delhi, Mumbai, and London and thankfully was able to furnish, and make a place for me to live.

Speaking of Radio work, just to let you know I am no longer earning money from radio. Due to the economy the work is just not there, and my largest contract ended because the radio station went out of business. So I am 100% relying on support to live and conduct ministry. I am looking into ways to earn money but due to Indian laws I am not legally able to earn money there. Please pray that the support continues to come in for me as I cannot do ministry now without the support that comes from you that love me and follow what I am doing in India.

FGFestHeaderSome God given doors have opened up for me in India and Asia to serve His kingdom and I am so excited to get started in those areas. The first one that opened you already knows about, and that is compassion International. Then second one that opened is an amazing opportunity. I recently had a meeting with Billy Graham ministries. They have been in Chennai for the last few months preparing for a Franklin Graham festival (Crusade) that will take place in January. They have requested me to be a part of the planning for the event, and help with the planning of the production of the event. I will be helping them prepare the venue for sound equipment and logistics of enabling a crowd of possibly 10s of thousands of people to come and encounter Christ. We are right now working on contacting the 3000+ churches that are in the city and I will be assisting with those efforts as well as soon as I return to Chennai in early August. I will be also assisting in the event itself as I will be overseeing some of the technical aspects of the event and helping out with the production of the event. Obviously this is a major opportunity to serve our city and make a major impact to win Chennai for Christ!!!! God is so good to me and I am so humbled that he is using me for this amazing event that will be life changing for everyone that will be there. The festival will take place at the end of January.

You may have remembered me talking about HCJB and the potential radio ministry that I have been given the opportunity to be a part of. Nothing has happened with that as of yet, but they have been telling me to get ready for work that is coming starting in September. 4521595610While I am in the states, I will be traveling to Indiana to meet with the Asian director that is in the country, the director of technology and the HCJB director. They will also be briefing me on some of the projects that are coming and will be providing me training on some of the equipment that I will be using in the field. Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Papua New Guiney, and north Australia are all places that they have identified that I will be of use to them in the near future. They have made it very clear to me that they are pleased with the fact that I am based in India, as it will be easy for them to dispatch me to these places to install equipment and provide training to the local people to run these gospel radio stations. Unlike the other radio work I had been doing, this is unpaid missionary work that I would be providing to assist in building these radio stations. Please pray for these meetings that will be taking place in July. If they say that they will use me on a continued basis, then my plan is to permanently be living in India until God says otherwise. I see myself living in Chennai for many many years to come as I know that I am being used. God keeps opening opportunities to be used for His kingdom in India and in Asia. There have been so many conformations that this is His will for my life. Glory be to HIM!!!

If I do in fact start to serve HCJB on a regular basis my main time will be split up into 2 ways. Word of Life and HCJB will get most of my time, and I will be available to Compassion International, WAC, HBI, and other ministries when time allows. I have not heard much from HBI by the way. I helped them with a music concert that took place in March and I have helped them with some computer work here and there, so I will continue to be available to them but again I seem to be used more lately by these other placed that God has placed me in.

15042One of my major needs while in the USA is to raise support. God has been so faithful in providing my needs. In April I was becoming very desperate financially. I was worried and concerned and really stressed over this, as I saw that I had only a few more months of funds to live on, and the second I said to God you took care of my last year and I did not do without, God you will have to continue to provide my needs this year. I quit worrying at that moment, and within a week of praying that and truly giving it to him I had received almost $2000 within a couple of weeks. WOW!!! I am still not worried, and am leaning on him to provide my needs for the next year and beyond. Right now it is taking about $800 a month to live and conduct ministry. Please please while I am here in the USA, come find me and just let me know you are behind me and supporting my efforts. I need to raise money to continue to live and do ministry in India. I am down to about 3 months of funds to live on there again and I need to have people say that they are going to support me on a monthly basis. I right now have about $200 coming in, in monthly support and in need again about $800 to live and conduct ministry. Please pray about how you and your family could possible help. I am living by faith that God will supply my needs and I fully trust that he will do so. If you have an interest in giving to me, please let me know. You can send money to P.O Box 30323 Gahanna, Ohio 43230. You can also give online Here . If you would like info on where your money is going from a ministry standpoint or you would like to sponsor a specific area of my ministry please let me know and I will give you details as to the specific way you can help. Swaggs Health Update and current prayer Needs

Hey everyone, I wanted to quickly update you all on my health and current needs i have here.

First, Praise God!!! I had the first batch of stitches removed on this past Saturday and the remain stitches were removed yesterday. (I had surgery to close the wounds from my Bison attack on March 12th). The doctor is very pleased with the progress, and seems a little mad also because I guess I am pushing myself too much. So with that in mind, Please pray I do only what I can do without re injuring myself. I have started to get back to Ministry this week and it feels so good to be back to the work that I was called to do.

I started on a video project yesterday for Compassion International which I am excited to do, so please pray that those efforts would be well used for the Kingdom. I have also started to work with Word Of Life Church again and am currently helping them to improve there visual elements of the services, and also helping with the music. I am also preparing to go back to Kodaikanal In late april to do a video project there. I am also preparing for a Christian adventure camp that is coming in May. It feels so good to get back to Ministry!!!

My quickly becoming major need is a BIG prayer request. My financial situation is getting pretty bad. The Hospital stay and meds and all of that cost me about $520 and are still coming as the treatments continue. Also with that combined with the up front needs I have for living here on my own which has been about $2000 so far, My funds are starting to dry up pretty fast. At this point i have enough to live on for 2 or 3 more months.

In the 2 previous emails I have sent reguarding Money I have had 3 people send me money. Please if you are able to send anything at all please do. The Gifts you send currently will NOT be tax ductible as I am still in search of a Non-for Profit orginisation that would be able to recieve my funds and send them to my P.O Box in Gahanna. If you have a Non for Profit Orginisation that could handle this or have any ideas that would help me out please let me know. This is a serious problem I am facing and this problem was handed to me a few weeks before I returned to India.

Anyway.... Please If you are able, please send me someting that would help me out. If you would like to send me a monthly gift or would like to sponsor me for One month, please let me know. Right now at the current exchange rate It costs me about $850 to survive and effectively do ministry per month here. If you are able to send that ammount that would be awsome, but even $20 or $50 would help aslo. And please don't think.... Ah some else will do it so i don't need to, because again only a few have sent me money. Maybe ask your church or business to get involved if you are unable to help out, and if you support what I am doing here. I Hate I HATE I HATE asking for money, but I know God has called me here, and I am praying to do as much ministry as possible here without having to stop and search for work here. I have come to realise that I have to rely on you, my firends and family to support the work that is going on here in order to be effective here for the Kingdome. Please pray that the money comes and that I will be effective, and again please pray that I find that Non profit Orginisation out there that God has ordaned to take care of me.

You can send money to my P.O Box in Gahanna and that address is
P.O. Box 30323
Gahanna, OH 43230

Or you can send Money to my Pay Pal account and you can do that by going Here

Thank you so much for Loving me and supporting my efforts here in India.

Swaggs Update Jan/Feb 2009

What an unbelievable first month and 1 half I have had coming back to India from my Holiday Break in the US!!! It has been good, bad, ugly, and to be honest lately, joyful as well.

Lets start with my health.. First of all it has been 28 days (February 1st) since I was attacked by my Bison friend Fluffy. I spent 10 days in the hospital with severe wounds in and on my butt. The doctors are very pleased with my progress and say the wounds are very healthy. They are predicting I will be fully recovered by late March to mid April. I still go to the hospital 2 times a day for wound treatments. Morning and night is my routine for the treatments which leaves me a good amount of time in the day but I will get to that. Praise God the doctor and nurses that have been treating me are pleased and say that wound is infection free and healing nicely. I got really good news a few days ago. They said the internal wounds have almost healed and the visible wounds are starting to slowly close. I still have a long way to go but I am convinced I will fully heal with no life changing ailments.

I am now staying at the Koadikanal International School with Mary Cornelius and her family. She is a Dorm parent for 9th to 12th grade girls at the school. I also used to live next door to them in Chennai as her husband is the principle for HBI. I was so surprised to see her and her family here when I came, and now that I am injured I praise God she and here family is here. Kodaikanal International school or KIS is the reason I am here to begin with.

I for a brief few seconds questioned God as to why I was attacked and why he called he me here early. Back in November when I was in the US I found out that there was a ministry at KIS at the first part of February. This meant that i had to cut my trip to the US short by almost 3 weeks in order to make it to Kodaikanal. If i had come when I was scheduled to come on February 2nd I would have arrived at the school 3 days after the attacked happened. So I asked God why did you call me here early to get Attacked by a Bison Bull before the main part of my ministry here even started. This thought was going on in my head about 1 hour after the attack in the hospital. I was screaming in pain and covered in blood and in that brief moment I heard God say to me "Do not worry, I will take care of you and I will use this for my Glory"!! I in that moment, laying in bed, my friend holding my hand, crying my head out because of pain, being scared and wondering why me... I stopped crying and started to laugh so hard that the people around me thought I was crazy. It only lasted a few moments, but in those moments I was sure that even though I was going threw something so dramatic and hard it was going to be for the good.

I can say so far honestly, This has been one of the most joyful and fulfilling times of my life. I have had such a great time here in Kodaikanal, and yes, it has been obvious that He is using this pain for His glory here at KIS. Everywhere I go people know me and want to know all about what happened, and every time I speak I get to tell them how My God saved me. Even in the Town here of a few thousand I get stopped and people want to know my story. Kodaikanal is a Mountain town in the southern part of India about 7000ft in elevation.

In my time here I have spent a lot of here here talking one on one with the children and hearing all about there lives here and them hearing my story. I have also got the chance to spend a significant amount of time in the Piano learning department here at the school sitting with the children listing to them and playing. I am so excited to the prospect that I can speak into some of these young lives as they are amazing musicians and a few are prodigies when it comes to playing piano. I pray that there talents will be used for God's glory and hope I can be a small part of that in my small bit of time here.

Last week I was sitting with a young girl, maybe 12 years of age, listening to her. She was so happy to have me there with her. All of a sudden she stopped her classical piece that she was practicing and asked me if she could play a song for me . She started to Play "Here I am to Worship", and as she sung it and played it, I started to sing with her. I would have to say that that was on of the most special moments of worship I have ever experienced!!! We were both in awe after the song. It was so special to have her play that for me, and she said she was thankful for the music our band did for the school.

Our band came here as part of a team from an organization called Scripture Union. SU was asked to come to the school for a week long "Religious Awareness Week" program that the school was having. My band was invited to come to help out with teaching and to put on a few music programs for the school. The day I was injured was Sunday Night. That morning we were asked to play for the school chapel service which was very special for me. Many after the service came up and were so thankful for the music and ministry. One couple that works here that is from Ohio said it was like being a service at home, and was happy. Speaking of people from Ohio, I have seen 2 students here with Ohio state t-shirts on and I met one more the just transferred here from Westerville North high school a few months ago. Way too small of a world!!

That Sunday, my friends and I really had a good day. We went out into the town and looked around. We went to the nearby lake, went bike riding, some went boating and then I showed Colin and a few others what Frisbee Golf was all about. I had fun with that. We went to the school soccer field and I was throwing the Frisbee Discs from one goal to the other. Good times! Then that evening we were to go to a high school boys dorm for a devotional and that is when I was attacked. If you want to read about the attack read my last blog entry at http://swaggsupdates.blogspot.com/2009/02/spiritual-warfare.html . For the team, the week went on as scheduled, and I laid in the hospital for most of it.

The Wednesday after the attack, we had a school wide assembly which all of the middle and High schoolers were there (about 500 kids). I made it a goal to be a part of that, and Praise God I made it! I believe this was one of the most impactfull events that I could have made here at the school. By this time everyone in the school knew all about the Bison and who I was. Many saw me on Saturday and Sunday and I was able to make a connection with a few of the kids on those few days playing basketball with them or eating lunch or dinner with them. It was the only time in my life I have ever felt like a rock star!! This was an hour long assembly and the hospital made sure I was only there for as long as I needed to be. So half way through the assembly I get out of a taxi, wearing my Pj's and in some serious pain I get out of this taxi and the whole crowd cheered. I felt so good to be there in that moment!! Colin came over and hugged me and helped me to the stage. In those few moments I had there I was given the mic and was able to tell the whole school about how God saved me and how he was so good to me. Then our band played Aaron Shust'd "My Savior My God" and Casting Crown's "Life Song". God is so Good to me and I praise his name that I was able to be a part of that assembly.

Friday night was the concert and had most of the school there. That was such a great night for me as well as even though I was in pain that night and struggling to stand for the 2 hour show, God was so good and He was defiantly there. When it was time for us to play Life Song, the kids must have remembered it from the Wednesday Assembly because when we announced the name of the song everyone cheered.

After my team left to return for Chennai, it was not safe for me to travel because of my wounds so it was decided that it would be best for me to stay back and heal. Poor me as this this is an absolutely beautiful place. Also the climate is perfect (70s by day and 40s by night). So here we are...... I have been here a month doing nothing but spending time with the kids and helping where I can. Last week I was able to visit one of the middle school boy's dorms and the dorm parent invited me to stay there, so this past weekend I was able to spend the weekend with the boys there. My time there was mostly hanging out with the kids, watching movies, watching them play soccer and cricket, and playing some video games with them. It was a very special weekend and I was pleased that the kids have all excepted me as a friend and not as some adult. I had one boy there that has come to me a few times when he was sad and homesick. He cried on my shoulder a bit, and I was happy he was comfortable to come to me for comfort. This coming weekend I have been asked to stay at the Elementary school boys. I will be there some this week at the Elementary school as well helping there in the music department and anything else I can do to be a blessing.

The few weeks that I was here prior to Coming to Kodaikanal was really all about getting over Jet lag and getting my life ready to live here for some time. The plan at this point is to be here 14 more months and see how the Lord leads me from there. I am no longer living at HBI but will be living off campus nearby in an apartment. I am still will be doing ministry at HBI as needed. I put down a deposit on on the apartment and I was told that it is ready for me to move in now. The owner of the flat did a significant amount of work on it to make it comfortable for me and clean. I can't wait to move in there when I return to Chennai on March 7th. My time in Chennai was hard as I had to deal with a lot of issues pertaining to my scooter and other things that needed to be cleaned up from last years ministry. Also I experienced a significant amount of spiritual warfare there. Since people have started to pray for me the attacks have been removed from my life Praise God.

Prayer has been so huge for me in my time here so far. One of the coolest things that happened prayer wise that I have ever experienced was when they doctor was installing my 35+ stitches in my butt. As that was going on and I was in so much pain, and so scared, about half way into the procedure most of the pain went away and I became quite comfortable. This was not a medicine thing, because I had been given medicine more then one and a half hours before this. I found out that my pastor in Chennai called New Life Church in the US and informed them of what was going on. The timing that my late night procedure was going on was the same time that the Morning Services at New Life were going on in the US, and I was told that the church prayed for me in the exact moment that the procedure was going on. Praise God I felt those Prayers and God's presents was with us in the room with us.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Thank you all for your prayers in that moment and over these last few weeks. God is so good and He is healing me and using me in a big way here. I think my prayer needs are obvious, but I do have some needs that I would ask you to please lift up for me. One, please continue to pray for my protection from the enemy. It is quite obvious that he is not happy that I am here. Two, pray against infection and anything that will slow the healing process of my injuries. The projection is that I will fully heal by late March to mid April, so pray that even as I return to Chennai, I heal without no complications. Praise God so far from what I am hearing that the school here is covering ALL my medical costs!! Please pray I do not get some surprise bill as I can not afford that right now. Four, please pray I get my bike back when I return to Chennai. I do not have it because of some legal reasons that is going on at HBI. Long Story that i am not going to get into, but I will need the bike to continue my hospital treatments when I return to Chennai, so pray that all the documents and needed signatures are completed and ready for me when I return to Chennai in 2 weeks. Five, (Big One) HBI is no longer wanting to take care of my donations, so I am in need of a Charitable organization here to receive my gifts that you are sending me and getting it into my hands. Right now I have about 4 months of money left to survive on, so this is a big issue. Please DO NOT send any money to HBI from now on so I can be obedient to there request.

I have 2 needs that I am asking you to help me with. Many have said that you are praying for me and I thank you for that. If you are one that is praying for me Monthly, weekly, or daily, please let me know that so I can add you to my "Swaggs prayer team". My other need is money. If you can send me a gift of some kind that would help me a great deal. The kicker is that you will not get a tax benefit until I get my Charitable Organization issue worked out. If you can please send a check to my P.O Box in Gahanna, please do. That address is P.O Box 30323, Gahanna OH 43230. You may also give to me online at PayPal and that link is Here . There is so much to come this year and I have found out more news as to my future here in India and in Asia, and I will lay out my Ministry plan and what seems to be my future here in my next update. God is Good All the time and Praise God He is Using me to make an impact in His Kingdom.

Thank you so much again for your Love and support!!!
