India Weeks 3 and 4

One the frustrating things I have had to endure here is the lack of internet. Minor I know, but when that is the way you talk to everyone you care about you begin to miss it very quickly. Thank you for the emails where everyone has been checking on me, and to just let everyone know I am doing good. I have hit the one month mark here in India, and as expected God has been faithful and has kept me healthy, happy, and safe. Now Lord, if you can get rid of the Mosquitoes for me that would be a blessing :)
Well, Where should I begin in describing my last few weeks.... Well first of all, this has been a very busy 2 weeks with out much downtime. HBI has done a great job keeping me busy with projects. The Tricaster project is nearing completion. Our target completion date is March 15th. This past weekend we did our first major recording with the system. Tricaster did very well and we are beginning to get used to the system and it's functionality. HBI is building a control room for the system and we have been focused on running all the cabling from the church to the control room. Also we are redoing the lighting in the church and adding a projector for there video. The next step will be to run video wiring to the various places on campus that they want to broadcast to. The second picture shows a few of the guys that I have been working with. Josh is on the left, Roby is in the center, and off in the distance with headphones on is Gideon. Praise God this project is almost done. The last few weeks we have had a series of meeting to plan out my time here for the next 6 to 8 months. We are planning to Redesign and update the audio studios and video studios, which is a major undertaking. We also plan to build a website for there radio program that can be herd throughout India called "The voice of Love". In the IT Department we are moving the server room to a new area on campus, which I will assisting with, also helping with the redesigning of the HBI Website. When time allows we will have video shoots and will be traveling to the various HBI training centers throughout India. Also by the way, In the midst of all that, My stuff arrived from the US! Praise God i had no problems what so ever getting everything through customs. Also Praise God i did not have to pay a dime for duties or customs. God is Good :) I am still trying to get myself adjusted to the culture and foods here. It is also starting to get hot here. It has been in the low 30s C (90s F) for the last several days and I have been warned that it will not stop until it gets to the mid 40s (115 F). I can't wait for those days, well I guess I can. Here are a few meals I have recently had. The one on the left was a fast food carryout I brought home. It is beef fried rice Indian style and the picture on the right was a all you can eat meal I had out with Wesley and Josh. The cheapest item to buy here in India by far here is the food. The meal in the left cost me $0.75 and the meal on the right cost $1.25 . Also Scott Thomson, you asked for it and here it is. He requested a picture of me on the the back of the motor cycle that I have been riding on. Sorry it was not taken on the street, but I value my life and you still get the idea. I would have to say that it is by far the fastest way to travel here so far. Cars, buses, and I would even say an auto rickshaw. You can weave in and out of traffic very quickly and get to your destination quicker. If i ever get my drivers license this will defiantly be my way of traveling. The only type of transportation I have not experienced is the train, I will take care of that in May as I will be taking a 12 hour train to the southern tip of India for a wedding that I have been invited to. I flew to New Delhi on February 22nd for business work. For those who didn't know, I am acting as a Radio engineer consultant and contractor for a few companies here in India. I am praying this will soon be a blessing, because the work will supplement my financial needs here while I am Ministering at HBI. It is a great opportunity, because the work is all scheduleable so I can still devote the time that i need at HBI. The trip to New Delhi was for a couple of meetings with 104.8 Meow FM in New Delhi and also to go to a trade show there also. I also met up with Chris, a gentleman from OMT Technologies. He flew from Winnipeg Canada to be here for just 3 days. I could not imagine the flight over from North America and back in such a short time. Anyway, we met at Meow FM and showed OMT's software upgrades to them for a few hours and then they took us out to lunch and then showed us some of India's capital. Until you experience the hospitality of the Indian people you just have not experienced true hospitality. It is the culture to take care of every need of a guest even of it hurts themselves. These guys took us and showed some of what Delhi has to offer. That evening a few of the guys that we met at the trade show picked us up and took us out. We had a great time as they showed us their neighborhood hangout and took us to a hole in the wall ally diner. North Indian food totally different from South Indian food, and I would say it was good, but lets just say that I am glad I live in the south. The people of India are truly an amazing people group. Family and friendships seem to be far more important than career or the accumulation of stuff that we Americans would call important. The meetings that I had while in New Delhi were invaluable. There are several jobs that are brewing and I am praying they come soon as I really need the money. (Shameless Plug) If you would be willing to send me a donation that would be very helpful as I am low in the cash department. I believe that God will supply my needs through this work, but it is going to take a few months for the work to start to come in. If you can give anything please do so at http://hbionline.org click on the Donation button and fill out the info. Also make sure you put in the "Please add any comments" box my name and that the donation is for me. (End of Shameless Plug) Ok, back to the update.... The next day we only had one meeting in the morning, and after that Chris and myself decided to take a chance and asked our cab driver to show us India. 2 words; Good Call! For $12 dollars this cab driver carted us around for 5 hours showing us some of the most amazing sights these eyes have ever seen. He first took us to the original city of Delhi. There we saw the Gandhi Tomb, and the Indian Red Fort. WOW!!! at the tomb/mosque There was a sea of humanity there. The area is ran by the government and no "Auto" Rickshaw's were aloud, so the cab driver put us on 2 non auto rickshaws. Um, all I can say is I tipped the man well and felt really sorry for him. The ride was about a full mile. This guy was in extremely good shape to cart my butt around these places. Next the cab driver took us to the Humayun's Tomb, which I would describe as a mini Taj Mahal. This building was centuries old and was absolutely breathtaking, and by far my highlight of my trip to New Delhi. The place was surrounded by multiple gardens and similar buildings that were much older than the one in the picture. I have accumulated so many worthwhile pictures to show, but not enough space on the blog, so I will start a picture album and will let you know next week where to access it. The trip to New Delhi was a great experience as well as hopefully a fruitful one in the work area. While at the trade show I met with 3 other companies that are interested in using me for service and installations while I am in Asia. 1 company is based in Cleveland, 1 is based in Germany and the third was based in New Delhi. God is good and I pray that he will supply my needs through these contacts. A bit of bad news to finish out this update, one of the guys that I have been working with at the HBI IT department was hit by a truck while driving his motor cycle. He is in the hospital with several fractures in his let leg and knee. Please pray for his quick recovery. Thanks for reading and also thank you for your prayer. I am loving this place that God has placed me to serve Him! Here are some more pictures from my New Delhi Trip. I hope to talk to you soon.
